Chiropractic questions we hear a lot
New to chiropractic, new to The Chiro Crew, or just wondering how things work around here. If your question is not answered below, ring the practice and ask.

Getting started
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No! You can book directly online or give our crew a call. Many of the people we look after come to us through recommendations from family and friends. If someone sent you our way, let us know so we can thank them!
If another health professional has referred you or you've had imaging done, bring any relevant reports along to your first visit.
What happens at my first visit?
A proper conversation about your health story, then a thorough assessment covering balance, posture, movement and muscle testing, plus digital postural assessment. X-rays are available on site when they are needed. There is more detail on your first visit.
How long should I allow?
About 30 minutes for the first visit.
What should I wear?
Something you can move comfortably in, since we assess how you move.
During your care
Is an adjustment going to hurt?
Probably not, though some adjustments feel more intense than others. We explain what we are about to do before we do it.
How does consent work?
You are asked every time, and you can decline or ask us to stop at any point. Consent is a stated priority in this practice rather than a form you sign once.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on you, your goals and what your body has been managing. Care works best in a consistent rhythm, so visits are scheduled in cycles. After your assessment we give you an honest recommendation and the plan is yours to decide on.
Why does the timing of my appointment matter?
Your nervous system responds to consistency, so booking a similar time each week lets each visit build on the one before it. Your care info goes into this properly.
What should I do between visits?
You will get specifics at your report of findings. Usually a posture pole, moving more often through the day, some thought about how you sit and sleep, and water.
How we work
What is Advanced BioStructural Correction?
ABC™ is one of the main techniques we use in this practice. It is a whole-body protocol working from head to toe in a consistent sequence, with particular attention to the compensations a body builds up over years. More on the about page.
What other techniques do you use?
Diversified adjusting, applied kinesiology and SOT, plus gentler approaches for children and older people. Which you get depends on what we think is best for your body and your preferences.
What is a subluxation?
A spinal segment that is not moving or functioning as well as it should, which creates interference in the nervous system. Because the nervous system coordinates so much, that interference shows up differently for different people.
Do you take X-rays?
We have them on site and take them when your history or the examination points that way. Not everyone needs them, and we explain why before we do.
What is digital postural assessment?
An objective record of how you are holding yourself. It gives us something concrete to compare against as your care continues, rather than relying on memory.
Families and children
Do you see children and babies?
Yes, and a good number of the families we see now are the second or third generation through the door. Care is gentle and suited to each little body, and a parent stays in the room the whole time.
Can I come in while pregnant?
Yes. Care through pregnancy is gentle and many mums find it helps them move more comfortably as their body changes.
Can I bring my children to my own appointment?
Of course. The kids table is out, there is a play corner and nobody minds noise.
Practical things
Where are you and where do I park?
At 71 Belair Road, Kingswood, about ten minutes from the Adelaide CBD and an easy drive from Mitcham, Unley, Torrens Park, Netherby and Belair. Look for the large 71 sign. There is off street parking in front and behind the building. If you'd like to get your pre and post adjustment walk, we recommend parking on either Tutt Ave or Eyensbury Avenue.
What are your opening hours?
Tuesday 7:30 to 10:30am, 3:00 to 6:00pm. Wednesday 7:30 to 10:30am. Thursday 8:30 to 11:30am, 3:00 to 6:00pm. Friday 3:00 to 5:30pm. Saturday 9:00 to 11:00am. Closed Monday and Sunday.
Do you accept DVA?
Yes.
How much does it cost?
We go through the fees with you when you book, so there are no surprises on the day.
Is there a front desk?
Not your traditional one! We're an open-plan practice, so our chiropractic assistants are right there amongst the action. When you arrive, one of our crew will be there to welcome you, answer your questions and help you feel right at home.
What if I'd prefer a private room?
No worries at all! We love our open-plan practice, but we understand that sometimes you'd prefer a little more privacy. Just let our crew know, and we'll happily set you up in one of our closed rooms.

Still wondering something?
Ring the practice and ask. The crew answer the phone themselves and are happy to talk it through, whether or not you end up booking.
